Employees of Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino underwent a Bomb Detection Training by the Armed Forces of the Philippines last Sept. 13 to 14.

A part of the hotel’s effort to increase awareness and heighten security, the training was able to equip the employees with the basic knowledge on the different kinds of improvised explosive devices or bombs. The training also highlighted the different methods in which bombs are concealed and the measures to take once these are detected.

Waterfront Cebu security department head John L. Pamposa emphasized that this training is important especially after the recent bombing in Davao and that awareness regarding this matter must not escape anyone.

“The security of the hotel does not only concern one department. Security is the responsibility of everyone and we must all work together to ensure the safety of our guests,” Pamposa said.

IN celebration of the Pink October, Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino invited some of Cebu’s women doctors to the very first Pink Affair last October 6, 2016 at the Treff Bar.

A night dedicated to the modern women heroes who lead in advocating against breast cancer, the Pink Affair was the hotel’s way of expressing their gratitude to these doting doctors.

“Breast cancer has taken the lives of many and we are very grateful to have doctors like you who advocate for its early detection. You have indeed saved many lives,” Waterfront General Manager Anders Hallden said.

Some of the doctors present expressed their gratitude to the hotel for its initiative since a gathering for them rarely happens.

“This is a rare occasion and we are happy to be gathered together here tonight,” Dr. Vivina Chiu expressed in her message of thanks.

IN celebration of the famous Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino will release the much-enjoyed treat of the feast, the moon cakes.

The hotel’s Chinese restaurant, Tin Gow, has been known to sell moon cakes for the longest time, however this year, the Waterfront’s new General Manager, Anders Hallden, decided to give the traditional treat a modern twist.

“Chef Benoit and I were talking and decided to have a little fun that is why we came up with mooncakes, with a French twist!” GM Anders said to the media and guests during Moon Cake Festival launch last August 11, 2016 at Tin Gow.

Chef Benoit Laboureux made seven French moon cakes consisting of sweet and savory surprises. Among the sweet moon cakes he innovated are Puto Cheese, Black Forest, Coconut and Ube, while his savory flavors includes Bacon Bechamel, Beef Wellington and Lechon with Sticky Rice. These will be available in Madeleine starting August 16.

The traditional moon cakes by Chinese Master Chef Low are also still available with the following flavors; Pandan, Green Tea, Lotus, Lotus with Salted Egg, Coffee, Red Bean, Red Bean with Salted Egg, Dragon Fruit and Dragon Fruit with Salted Egg. AN amazing series of events and festivities took place at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino in celebration of the Fourth of July.

Cravings were satisfied at UNO restaurant for the Great American Buffet which lasted from June 25-July 10. A widespread of all things American during the American Festival at the Gourmet Walk from July 2-4 were showcased in which US Consul General, Ms. Danna Blair and Cebu American Consular Agent, Mr. Glenn Loop, formally opened the event. Some of very own Filipino-American Artists, Hajii Alejandro, Marco Sison, Nonoy Zuniga, and Jolianne Salvado performed the best of the 80’s and 90’s last July 2 at the hotel’s Artctic Hall. The colors red, blue and white prevailed during Cebu’s biggest American car and bike motorcade which took American brand cars and motorcycles around the Queen City last July 3.

The On the Cover Band, as well as the Philippine Air Force Band, entertained the crowd right after the motorcade during a grand barbecue party. A live screening of Formula One on big screen was enjoyed by the guests in the lobby. A fashion show featuring American brands officially capped off the event last July 4 during the Blaze of Glory Fashion Runway.
